Pete Doherty apparently tried to top himself in rehab, one of his closest friends told a Sunday rag in the week of the new Babyshambles album is released. According to the charming Johnny Jeannevol (the man named after a stripper and a Sonic Youth album who might soon be having a natter with the police about the death of Matt Blanco), Doherty tried to kill himself while in rehab because he was upset that Kate Moss was nobbing a new man. According to Jeannevol, Doherty was to breath deep from the oxygen of publicity of untimely death by cutting off the oxygen of life with an overdose of pills, but managed to just be sick instead. "Pete's been really wound up over Kate showing off her new man," he said. "He saw an opportunity to take an overdose and took it. He told me he didn't know what the pills were but thought ‘fuck it' and took them all."
However he's now pleased to say that Doherty has left Wiltshire's Clouds Clinic, and "Now he's out and happy. He's trying to keep off the drugs and needs his own space." Apparently Doherty has now been clean for six weeks.
