The JD Set is hosting a two night jamboree at the Luminaire, featuring some bands who are very popular at the moment, and Peter Hook. As an aside, has anyone else wondered why it was that in Joy Division and early New Order Hooky played his bass at chest height like any normal human being, but started swinging it around his ankles at about the time he was married to Mrs Merton? Strange fellow.
Anyway, Hook will be on hand to watch the bands and then take part in a panel discussion pondering whether the bands are actually going to be good enough to make it to the big time.
Playing on November 8th will be Air Traffic, Friendly Fires (they're from St. Albans, you know) and the excellent Lightspeed Champion. On the next night are the are-they-still-as-terrific-as-they-were Vincent Vincent and the Villains, The Courteeners and The New York Fund. No, me neither.
