Content: Alter Bridge - Ties That Bind - Single

Ties That Bind starts of with a chuntering guitar that made me think “How splendid! These formerly hard rocking American gentlemen are now sporting a Bluetones influence!” Sadly for me, although probably not for their chances of maintaining their fan base, a barrage of drums, riffing and female backing vocals straight from the Jim Steinnman toolkit change matter somewhat.

And it’s all pretty good – heavy enough for the hardcore and tuneful enough for the lily-livered. And even better, it might make you visit their website, which is a stirring examples of money and ideas triumphing over usability.

But who cares? Leave that stuff to the big corporations – Alter Bridge want inky clouds rolling up the screen and bats charging all over the place, and if it means links are invisible and text stopping mid-sentence, who cares? It’s not like they don’t tell you what cymbals the drummer uses (Zildjian of course).
