Steve Morell, remixer, DJ and producer, is also known as the founder of record label „Pale Music Int.“ and the biggest German indoor underground festival ,Berlin Insane“

According to media voices, his label moved up to Germany’s No°1 underground and avantgarde electro-disco-rock label. “Pale Music Int.” was titled label of the month by DJ Mag (UK) in 2007. Morell started in the 80´s as a DJ in famous Berlin underground clubs like Trash, Blockshock etc. Later in the 90´s he spent some time in London and started to get bored with the music he’d liked so far. Punk, new wave and pop had turned into a stupid hollow phrase, tasting shallow. So he began DJ-ing new kinds of music like electro and techno, mixing them up with rock’n’roll and disco, to then rediscover his lapsed love under a fresher point of view.

In 2004 he started the DJ duo The Scandals with Emma Eclectic. Together they worked on original tracks, remixing and collaborating with the following artists: Peaches, Miss Yetti, Bruder & Kronstädta feat. Nina Hagen, Eric D. Clark, Grizzly, Ascii Disko, Punx Soundcheck feat. Marc Almond, Mamas Weed, Pink Grease, Neonman, Beroshima, Lola Angst, Atomizer, Junesex, Luis Miguelez & The Glitters, The Nihilists, Boy George, Trafalgar, Schwefelgelb, DJ Donna Summer, Gods of Blitz and DJ Wool.

They released two selfproduced 12”s called “My Life Nightlife” and “The Scandals feat. Eric D. Clark - Summer Cruising EP”, as well as a compilation album including their best remix works which came out under the title “Cutouts, Patchworks & Rippoffs”. As international DJs The Scandals and Steve Morell performed at festivals and venues all over the world, like : 333, Nag Nag Nag, Madame JoJo´s, Turnmills (all in London), Le Garage and Elastico (Madrid), Sonar at Fellini (Barcelona), Los Ninos and Recycle (Brussels), Hive (Zurich), Das Schiff (Basel), Hotel Shanghai (Essen), Salon des Amateurs (Düsseldorf), Rocker 33 (Stuttgart), K&K Klub and Registratur (Munich), Duplex and Abaton (Praque), Fleda (Brno), Rust (Copenhagen), O3 and Club 11 (Amsterdam), Pard van Troje (Den Haag), and all over Berlin including residencies at Rio & White Trash, Maria, 103 Club, Magnet, Rafgier, Vice Launch Parties, Berlin Festival, etc.

So far, Steve Morell himself signs responsible for remixes for the following artists : The Vanishing, Diamanda Galas, The 15 KC, Miss Goody feat. Rahburt Price, Angel Eyedealism, The Neutrinos, The Antiquark. Recently he’s been working on remixes for : Martha & The Muffins, Carl Douglas, IAMX, The Stylists, Wonderful Cosmetics, Krakovia, Carlos Peron & Alexander Christou and Narcotic Fields (with The Scandals).

On the other hand Morell is working continually on his solo album “The Life & Death of Jimmy Pheres and his Rise from the Underworld” which is scheduled for winter 2008, in summer 2008 there will be a 12” pre-release titled “Loneliness” which comes along with remixes by Alexander Hacke and Andrew Unruh (both Einstürzende Neubauten).

Steve Morell has done 2 remixes for Philanthropy (Pet Shop Boys fans charity album) of the track Skype call by Angel Eyedealism and they will be available to be bought on march the 20th. Others remixers are Sergio Bastos (producer of the track), Cristian Thomas, Thrill Velocity, Audio Vicious, Prescott & Paul Mad and Daily Dissolution.
