Let me not let this little gem fall through my net, thought I, upon hearing this debut EP by Glaswegian time-warped fuzz-rockers Ursula Minor. Where NME applauds 'Laudanum' as "My Bloody Valentine with... the Jesus and Mary Chain," the press release, which - and this is a true story - I was forced to use as loo paper last night in the absence of something more soft, strong, and long, makes the outrageous claim that Ursula Minor are "dragging music into the future".
Now, you'll be able to see how these two claims fail to correlate, and allow me to have the honour of informing you that, in this case, on the scales of bullshit, the press release weighs far, far heavier. Sounding pretty much exactly like the rather limited - but currently enjoying a (hopefully) brief resurgence in popularity - Jesus and Mary Chain, Ursula Minor are dragging the past into the present, with little more excuse than that they haven't bothered to listen to any new music for over fifteen years.
Classically unnecessary, and a definite waste of resources.
