Playlouder - Music is the Network

Is it just me have t.A.T.u. become a bit boring of late? Personally I thought however-many-km/ph-in-the-wrong-lane-it-was, their debut album was perfectly formed, dangerous, and... moving - even the Smiths cover was ace.

Second album, 'Dangerous and Moving' was less so, but still showcased some top-notch synth pop with an almost-edgy edge, and a slow track bunged in for good measure. It was overlong and a bit repetitive, but still miles (sorry, kilometres) ahead of the domestic dross.

Now t.A.T.u. are gearing up for the release of their third album proper, after a pre-emptive 'hits' collection; it'll be called 'Waste Management' in its English incarnation. 

The lesbian lovers thing has long since washed off. So what's left?

According to this new video, not much. Yulia and Lena ponce about in skanky period costume and reel off another moody sounding barbed pop HIT with the usual hysterical indifference. It's in Russian, but I don't think that's the issue - I preferred the Russian versions of most of their western-market hits. 

The production's great, as always, but it's just not very exciting is it? I mean, in past videos the girls have blown up funfairs, hijacked juggernauts, and - perhaps most memorably - shot a guy right through the face. 

The fact that they're no longer sexually-immature lesbians has nothing to do with how unexcited I am about this. It's just a dull song.
