Mystery Jets - Half in Love With Elizabeth

Out now and available for your ears to consume is this the third pop-perfect single of the year from Mystery Jets

'Half in Love With Elizabeth' is an ode to infidelity and the band have been tight-lipped about the inspiration for the song, each blaming the other for writing it: which is odd, really, being as it's the best song on the album, give-or-take 'Veiled in Grey'.

Here in the video the situation is turned right on its head (sort of) and our masculine protagonist is seen fingering crispy fivers and staring longingly at her majesty Elizabeth, Queen of The World and Known Universe. Is this big? Is this clever? Is this a hanging offense?

I don't know - I preferred the less conceptual and more pastil-hue-suit-based videos that preceded it, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a wonderful song, full of subtle lyrical twists and, in inimitable Jets style, wonderful backing vocals.

Also, doesn't London look nice and French when filmed in black and white?
