Come Friendly Bomb!

PlayLouder recently reported news of an important benefit gig taking place on the 15th May at the Highbury Garage, London, featuring Japanese punk-trash queens Mika Bomb and Brighton popstrels the Pipettes. Well now the swoonsome Boyfriends and the seedy pop outfit Piranha Deathray have joined the bill, as well as White Heat's Matty, who will be on DJing duty.
Tickets are on sale now for a tenner [a snip] for the whole night, and the money is going to a very good cause, which is this: "[Mika Bomb drummer] Ergi Ahmed fell ill on 10th December 2005, and was rushed to hospital with septicaemia (blood poisoning). The infection led to a near-fatal, week-long coma which Ergi miraculously survived. However, doctors were forced to amputate both of his legs below the knee.
"Ergi is now in good spirits, racing about in a wheelchair and beginning training with prosthetic legs, but is unable to work to support his wife and kids. He’d prefer you to imagine he was in a motorbike accident and landed in a crocodile-infested swamp, incidentally.
"This will be Mika Bomb's first UK date of 2006, so expect plenty of rock'n'roll excess and knicker-flashing. Debbie Lane, a close friend and occasional drummer with the band, will keep Ergi's drum stool warm at the show."
