cheers svenhunter (btw what exactly does your name mean? are you on the ex-england manager's trail?). I'm quite enjoying this, although I'm far too drunk to give a proper appraisal.

I am still in the process of thinking up a sufficiently good excuse for my name, but it pre-dates my knowledge of the former England manager - that much I can testify to. I love Slow Children. When I write my best-selling novel I'll sprinkle it with referrences so I look like I know a lot about obscure 80s music, and then when they make the rubbish film of my brilliant book 'Vanessa Vacillating' will be on the soudntrack and I'll rescue them from obscurity and everyone will hail me as a hero and buy me drinks and stuff.

I'm so drunk I'm just going with the musical flow and enjoying it muchly. Although I get the impression their fans would cite them as a very lyrics-orientated band. Kept me happy for the last hour anyway, and I'm fucking picky. Cheers!

Yeah you may be right about that. I confess to being the sort of kid that wrote Manic Street Preachers lyrics on his pencil case. Hell! That was pretty normal though. Writing the entire lyrics to 'Lake Geneva' by The Handsome Family all over my England football shirt in permenant marker may have been less normal, but I stand by that decision...

And I still can't spell 'permanent' on the first attempt.

The Bolshoi? They were 80's. They were obscure. According to YouGoob, the guitar player/Singer has a complete Love & Rockets rip-off demeanor about him. That gave me hope in the sense that the horrendous decade known as the 80's wasn't all Molly Ringwald and atmospheric 4AD Pop for the pre-emo generation. Speaking of greed, I've been crushing my Valium into my coffee these days in a slow kinda of Iggy Pop eminence. So...fuck the 80's. And what scares me is I don't even drink coffee.

Hmm... I've so far seen them listed as post-punk, gothic and death rock.

I am, as we speak, (or as I do, at any rate), downloading a song called "I'm depressed (we all die)"

Death rock as in career sucide.

I always wanted to be a goth but I could never take myself seriously enough.
