Lanegan is indeed one of the most interesting characters around at the moment. There is a sincerity in his work which is missing from a significant amount of artists these days.

Oddly, I don't care for Mark Lanegan nor Isobel Campbell on their own, but I really REALLY like the two albums they've done together

i agree that isobel campbell on her own can be a little insipid though

although she did an amazing cover of 'willow's song' from the Wicker Man Soundtrack

Hit the city is a great track. Anyone know Here Comes That Wierd Chill? It was released just before Bubblegum, containing a few rougher versions, like Methamphetamine Blues, which is spectacular in it's own little swaggery way.

I also am not a huge fan of Isobell Cambell on her own. A bit saccharine for me.

I am currently unaware of this work. I will investigate further.

I'll check it out, to be honest though, the new album suffers most when she is given vocal prominence.

It is hard to sustain a full song of her on her own. Although she is a fantastic accompaniment to certain singers so I will give it a go

yeah, I know for sure she guested on the new album and sang 'Tammy' on the previous EP so I'd guess it was her

Yeah, it's still stuck in my head. His vocals are like a less contrived version of The National, I like that.

Radio Four is indeed a much better option. The BBC iplayer is great as well. It's such a great thing to be able to pick and choose the radio shows of your choice. Wasn't that what the future was supposed to be like? BBC7 is quite good too.

I wish someone made tivo for DAB. I feel so limited in R4's podcasting choices

The Realmedia streams are ok as long as it is connected with nothing else on your pc, like mp3's or avi's, as long as it's not set as the default player for ANYTHING apart from the radio streams, it doesn't seem to cause too much trouble. That way you can go through the A-Z and listen away until your heart's content.

Which means that afternoons can be spent listening to well thought out documantaries and old comedy shows. Which, as we all know, is not the worst way to spend an afternoon.

Listen Again is tethered to your computer on an internet connection. There's no way to take it with you to listen elsewhere or offline without stream capture hackery that's not worth the hassle. And then you have to do it with every single episode of a programme, which often change date/times

Kudos to the Beeb for increasing their podcast output, but I won't be happy until the whole of R4 is podcasted!

And The Archers is available as a podcast now - Tee Hee. I would love for them to put up some of Alistair Cooke's old transmissions, I know that they were primarily broadcast on the World Service but it would be great to get a back catalogue of them.

i guess unless individual producers / presenters etc have rights in the recording

Mmmm, I guess so. Especially with older shows, they could be difficult to put on geenral release, which is a damn shame.
