What a choon! :)
Dunno what it is; I've tried but can't get into Basement Jaxx. The music really irritates me. It is too busy or something, and reminds me of kids screaming. The lyrics on that track seem unnecessary too: "good luck with your nightmares" etc. Cheap shots at some deluded guy repeated far too often in insensitive female lyrics down the generations. Is being bitter empowering? Nevertheless after the inevitable argument about feminism subsides my principle problem with the Jaxx is the music. Seems like a lot of cool people like them but I can never get it. That "bingo" tune particularly stands out as an irritant, the sort of thing a four year old on aspartame would kick you in the nuts to (now I'm inviting feminist tirades.. I'm so bored). I like carribean carnival music but that track is just too much. However evidence from my friends and credible music journalists suggests it is just me. Bah humbug.
yer theyre fuckin shit
"it is too busy or something"
absolutely, i tried to get the Jaxx thing at glastonbury'05, but no. too much going on, and over the course of an album i suspect i'd just end up getting really fed up (like at the gig)
less is more and all that minimal electro jazz.
you might not like the results but the way this track is put together is awesome - ultimate pop music, lots of echoes of familiar songs, classic disco counterpoints, builds and some brain holidays, plus a great set of lungs out front
