British acts dominated the MTV Europe awards last night – but as usual it isn’t necessarily a good things as all the stuff that won is a bit fokkin boring la.Coldplay somewhat predictably cleaned up like a particularly uninteresting hoover – certainly not a Dyson. They won Best Song for ‘Speed Of Sound’, along with Best UK And Ireland Act.

Robbie Williams scooped Best Male Award, while slightly more interestingly Gorillaz beat U2, Coldplay and Green Day to Best Group.

The California punks did manage to nab Best Album for ‘American Idiot’ and Best Rock Act, Chemical Brothers got Best Video for ‘Believe’ while the barrel was properly scraped to give Black Eyed Peas Best Pop Act, Shakira Best Female, and James Blunt Best New Act. Shudder.
